Knowing Woman, lover, friend. Moon child, Mother, healer, midwife, servant to both life and death; offering myself the opportunity for rebirth. And so when I forget, all I need do is look inward, offer my open heart and hands as I remember that I belong, a wanted granddaughter of the moon, a needed woman, a worthy woman, a called to service woman, asked to step into my True Self, honor my truth, my lineage, my courage, my heart, remembering fully who I am.
Granddaughter, remember who you are…
These words echo, reverberate within, shaking me awake, to my core, bringing me into the essence of who I am. It has been nearly a year since I first heard them, heard their call, felt the quickening, the lightning strike in my soul. These five simple words called me home to my heart, home to myself.
Hearing my ancestors speak to me through a stranger, through story, as real, and live, as if they were sitting next to me. I believe they were and still are. I feel their presence, their nurturing and support, all the love that I have ever sought after is here, already within me. The love of a lineage of grandmothers.
When I waver, self-doubt creeps in, fear rears its lovely and deceptive head, I recall these words, this teaching, I lean in, and I stand tall, for I now know that I stand with them, even when I stand alone. I stand with the women who knew. Those who were “knowing” women.
They carefully and deliberately planted the seeds of wisdom that I carry within. They gently encourage and heal, nurture and tend in dreamtime they speak, they come, a whisper, a vision, a remembering. An inner knowing.
It is in remembering that I am discovering–recovering, the long ago planted seed. Learning to tend and nurture, learning what self love and care truly, madly, and deeply looks and feels like. I am learning to grow roots deep in the fertile soil of my soul, remembering the strength of the oak and her resilience to the wind. The birds, messengers, singing their songs from beyond the veil. Grateful for communion. Singing me into the center of my heart, to hear the stories they have to tell.
I listen, for that is a part of who I am. I listen, I witness, life, death, birth, the in-between. I humbly bow in all four directions honoring the paths that bring us through the labyrinth as we walk the wheel of the year. And so it is that I remember who I am, who I come from and through, with deep gratitude and thanksgiving, as I learn to embrace my inner witch, and my empowered bitch. As I remember who I am.
